County of Orange Partially Opens Beach Parking. Parking with reduced capacity reopened at Salt Creek, Strands and Baby beaches in Dana Point. The coastal lot reopened at Aliso Beach in South Laguna, with the inland lot remaining closed. Parking at Capistrano Beach is closed for maintenance.
Bioluminescence has made its way to Orange County shores for the first time in three years and today residents can see it just in time as OC beaches reopen under state approval. The phenomenon made its way onto Orange County shores in the last week of April and has been attracting residents to beaches after sunset. Supervisor Lisa Bartlett made a Facebook post earlier today saying Orange County received approval from the state to open county beaches for recreational activities.
Orange County has seen protesting over the past few weeks in support of opening businesses and resuming life. As impatient as county residents may be, there are some challenges Orange County has to face outside the county before opening up. In a press conference Monday, Governor Newsom said any decisions on reopening would be done in collaboration with other western states.
